"Dear Frant, I seat myself to commune with you through the medium of the pen... I can hardly realize that I am going to war..." So begins the first letter Edgar Shannon who had just joined the 154th New York volunteers to his sweetheart back home in Leon, New York. Their ensuing correspondence unfolds into a story of a love blossoming amid wartime terror, hardship, victories and defeats.

About 110 maple producers across New York will be hosting open houses for the public to see how maple syrup and other related products are made.
