What are the Amish doing in March?
This year, March has been mild and so everyone is enjoying the warm weather. The Amish are out in their “convertibles” which are actually open buckboard-style wagons that let them enjoy the warm breezes. The picture to the left shows a familiar site in the SW part of Cattaraugus Co. looking up Seager Hill Rd. a very densely populated Amish area.
Many clothes line are full of clean clothes hanging in the warm weather. We did happen to see a line full of beautiful blue quilts. The picture illustrates the beauty of these “everyday” quilts.
This is the time for maple syrup when the days are warm and the nights are cool. The Amish collect maple sap in buckets hanging on trees and later boil down the sap into maple syrup. Some sell maple syrup from their homes for extra cash.
Spring is always a wonderful time of the year for everyone. The quilt shops are full of newly made items and everyone is busy looking ahead to the summer. Don't forget to put drives through the Amish Trail on your “to do” list several times through Spring, Summer and Fall.

Actually I see old movies setting when I saw this blog. Especially the carriage carried by horse, it reminds me of movies shot in England with the Royal family. How the view is very similar. I wish I could set a tour on this trail for an unforgettable experience.
